About us

Further to an informal meeting of the German Shorthaired Pointer World Union (Weltverband de Deutch-Kurzhaar) in April 2011, we were asked to form an English Club to join the union.

Unfortunately due to the regulations of the UK Kennel Club we are unable to join the union whilst affiliated to the UK KC and therefore will not be applying for affiliation unless the KC are happy for us to be members of both associations.

As a member of the Weltverband we are entitled to send teams of handlers and dogs to compete in the World Championships (field trialling) each year (Spring and Autumn) and German Trials and dogs to the tests run in Germany. As a club, we run tests (trials) based on the FCI regulations to select the best dogs to represent the country. We also intend to run working tests and training days. If you have any interest in trialling with your dog in Europe or trialling in the UK under FCI rules, this club may be of interest to you.

In October 2011 we officially gained membership to the Weltverband, making history as the first club in the UK to gain affiliation of this type.
